The picturesque building was constructed in 1903 by one of Melbourne's most accomplished architects of the time, John Augustus Bernhard. The unusual two storey form, built at low scale, gives the building a dolls house image contributing to its eye catching quality.
Its previous occupation, as the name suggests, was a sales office for one of Australia's oldest undertaking businesses before turning into an art annex for the local university in the early 70's.
The building was left dormant & boarded up for forty years until its debut as a striking dining room & entertainment destination in June 2005.
